With Jaws‘ Milkshake EP – a collection of their singles and b-sides released to date – dropping later this month via Rattlepop, we asked the much-hyped Birmingham quartet to put together a playlist of the tracks that have inspired their musical lives.
As children of the 90s now writing fuzzy indie rock with killer hooks, it’s perhaps unsurprising to see the four-piece put together a playlist that veers between vintage turn-of-the-century pop and cuts from their psych-influenced peers. Here, you’ll find Len‘s ‘Steal My Sunshine‘ on an equal pegging with Tame Impala‘s ‘Alter Ego‘, or The Bucketheads‘ ‘The Bomb‘ snuggling up alongside Yuck‘s ‘Get Away‘. It’s a mix that’s equal parts indicative of the group’s sublime tastes and goofball sense of humour, and what’s more, it’s a telling lesson that for every choppy guitar line, a big chorus is never a bad thing.
